Regression testing, one of the most important yet neglected Testing type. Why? Because we are bored of it. Why bored? Because we do it incorrectly or don’t follow the best practices. Most of the time it results into wasted efforts – repeated testing without any qualitative results. Have you ever tried to revamp your regression approach? Why was this not tested? Aaah! QAs were accustomed to testing Apps only on a selection of devices, but carriers required more money for procurement. OMG! Mobile Testing is completely different compared to Desktop Testing. If we understand the distinction and challenges of testing Mobile Apps, it will be a bit easier to tackle.

Types of Software Testing define the different aspects of the software which you are going to cover as part of your Test efforts, i.e. the objective. Will it be only Functional? Or are you going to measure the system performance as well? What about the database schema? What if the Banking application you are testing is secure or not? Will it work on Mobiles as well? There are numerous Testing Types one can opt for now-a-days, for e.g. Functional, Security, Performance, Compatibility Testing, Database Testing, etc.
Multiple Operating Systems, Devices, Network operators and interfaces increase the risk of failures, if not tested properly. Keeping in mind the permutations & combinations involved in App testing, let’s try to answer the basic question – Test Coverage – or the types of testing required to get that awesome App experience.
